(Seatbelt Enforcement Campaign)
Campaign Background: The Click
It or Ticket Campaign is made possible through federal highway
safety grants. The campaign was based on a successful national
model involving four "mobilizations" that combined
high-visibility traffic enforcement, paid and earned media, and
community education between November 2002 and September 2003. The
first phase of the campaign raised safety belt use 11% to an
historical high of 62%.
One of the Newburyport
Police Department's primary goals is the protection of life and
property. The Click It Or Ticket campaign allows us to do just that.
The Newburyport Police Officer's will utilize this campaign to
continue to educate motorists about the Governor's
Highway Safety Bureau's "Click It or Ticket"
campaign.
